WWE Champion John Cena announced Daniel Bryan to be the #1 contender for the WWE Championship for the upcoming PPV Summerslam. John Cena was given the opportunity to name the #1 contender by the new General Manager of Raw, Brad Maddox, in the beginning of the show. Near the end of the show he said cannot decide and said he needs the help of the WWE Universe. Cena teased many names such as Randy Orton, RVD, Chris Jericho to see the crowd's reactions. The crowd then began very loud "YES!" and "DANIEL BRYAN!" chants as John Cena continued to ask who the #1 contender should be. John Cena then officially named Daniel Bryan as the #1 contender resulting in an eruption of "YES!" chants from the crowd.
