WWE Champion John Cena named Daniel Bryan as the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship for the upcoming PPV, Summerslam. John Cena was given the opportunity to name the #1 contender by Brad Maddox at the beginning of the show, and after John Cena came to the ring he said he cannot decide and needs the WWE Universe's help. He teased many names such as Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and RVD to see the WWE crowd's reactions. The crowd then began very loud "YES!" chants and were followed by even louder "DANIEL BRYAN" chants. John Cena then officialy selected Daniel Bryan resulting in an eruption from the crowd.
